Cookies Notice

This notice explains what cookies are, which cookies AussiePay uses, and how you can control them. It supplements our Privacy Policy and should be read together with it.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device — computer, tablet or phone — when you visit. Cookies allow the website to recognise your device on subsequent visits, store preferences (such as your cookie-consent choice), and support features such as audience measurement. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels and tracking scripts; for simplicity, this notice refers to all of them as “cookies”.

Categories of cookies we use

AussiePay uses cookies in four categories:

Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are required for the website to function. They are set when you record your consent choice, when the site needs to protect itself against abuse, and when core layout preferences (such as dark or light mode) are stored. Strictly necessary cookies do not require your consent under Australian and international best practice, because without them the website cannot deliver the service you have requested.

Functional cookies

Functional cookies remember choices you have made — for example, the language variant of the site, or a comparison you have started building. They do not track you across other websites. These cookies are set only if you have accepted them.

Analytics cookies

Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use AussiePay in aggregate: which guides are read most, how visitors arrive, and where they leave. The data collected is typically pseudonymised (short-lived identifiers rather than names or email addresses) and is used to improve the content and structure of the site. These cookies are set only with your consent.

Marketing cookies

Marketing cookies would be used to measure the performance of any advertising campaigns run by AussiePay or by third parties on our behalf. If we set marketing cookies at all, we do so only with your consent, and only for the purposes described in the consent prompt.

Typical cookies you may encounter

The exact list of cookies varies over time as we add or replace tools. Common examples include:

Managing cookies

You can change your consent choices at any time by clicking the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of the website. This opens the same consent prompt you saw on your first visit and lets you enable or disable each non-essential category.

Independently of the consent prompt, you can also manage cookies directly in your browser:

Blocking all cookies may prevent parts of the site from working correctly, in particular the storage of your consent choice itself.

Third-party cookies

Some cookies are set by third parties on our behalf — for example, our analytics provider or our security provider. These providers are contractually bound to use the data only for the purposes we have agreed with them. If you follow a link from AussiePay to another website, that website’s own cookie policy applies once you arrive.

Changes to this notice

We update this notice whenever we add, replace or remove cookies of a different category. The version in force is the one published on this page, dated above.
